Ryan Valley Farm CSA

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) provides a direct relationship between local farmers and their community.  When you purchase a share, you will receive a box of fresh, affordable, locally grown produce each week in return for helping to cover the costs of operating a sustainable farm.  By choosing to become a member of our CSA, you are helping to reduce the time needed to market what we produce, which will allow us to focus more of our efforts on growing high quality food.

What Makes our CSA different?

Most CSAs offer their members a box of produce that is identical to the box of all of their other members.  At Ryan Valley Farm, what is in the box of our members is up to them!  First, we begin with a standard box that has been designed to provide you with the widest variety of nutrients from the fruits and vegetables that we have available. Next, we allow you to make substitutions so that your box contains more of what you love!  Through our CSA, our goal is to help you learn how to eat what is seasonally available, learn about the nutrient content of each fruit and vegetable you are given, and how to incorporate the foods you enjoy to your healthy diet.

What's in our CSA shares?

Each box will include 8-12 different selections of fresh produce grown by Ryan Valley Farm.  With the CSA season being 16 weeks long, the price of each box breaks down to $24.94 per week.  The market value of each box will be between $32-$37, a savings of 22%-33% for your family each week!  As an added benefit to joining our CSA, our members receive first pick on new crops.  As the first tomatoes and peppers are just beginning to ripen but are not yet producing enough for us to bring to the market, our members will have the option to receive them in their share!  Additionally, your box will include recipes for how to use your share of the harvest.

Oh and did we mention that each box will come with free flowers?

Each week we will contact you with a list of what will be in the standard box, as well as a list of substitutions so you can swap different fruits and vegetables based on your preferences.  For example, if the standard box includes turnips but you don't like turnips, you can replace them with anything from the substitutions list.  The market value of each product will be provided so that making substitutions will be as easy as possible.

Each box will feed 2-3 people for 1 week.  If you have a larger family or if you eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, you may also use the substitutions list described above to add on any additional items into your box, at an additional cost.
